FAQs

These are some questions that I’m often asked which I hope will be helpful to you:

General Questions

Do you have insurance?

Yes I am fully insured and carry £ 2 million public liability and £ 75k indemnity purely for weddings. I would not like to book something as important as a wedding without an insurance policy as back up.  Equipment, public liability and professional indemnity insurance cover me for every eventuality.

Are you CRB Cleared?

Yes I am enhanced criminal records bureau checked. This means I have had my background checked to enable me to work with children and vulnerable people in my capacity as a photographer.

How far will you travel?

I am good up to 50 miles each way from Southam, over this distance would certainly be considered, but a further charge for the mileage may apply.

How do I pay?

You can pay by cash, credit card through pay pal which incurs a 2% surcharge, cheque payable to ‘Stephen Oliver Photography’ or by bank transfer.
An initial booking fee is paid at time of booking then the balance is due 30 days before your special day. In between these dates you can also make part payments to help with budgeting for your wedding day.

Wedding Photography Questions

What pictures will you take at our wedding?

I will work with you to identify a list of pictures that you’d like me to capture on the day.  This could be certain group shots or friends so you can remember who was at your wedding in years to come!  In addition to the other photographs that I will take throughout the day I will aim to get these specific images for you.

What if it is raining on my wedding day?

Sadly, I cannot control the weather but I do plan in advance and will carry equipment to help with any bad weather (umbrella’s, waterproofs, rug etc.) to ensure that the rain doesn’t have any negative effects on the photos on your special day.

My Dad isn’t keen on having his picture taken what can you do…….??

My day with you usually starts at the family home and I take some preparation shots whilst everyone is getting ready.  This gives me a great opportunity meet your family whilst things are more relaxed so hopefully by the time we are ready for Dad’s photos he’ll be used to seeing me and my camera!

We are shy in front of the camera, can you help?

I often hear this from clients and my reply is you have had the wrong photographer; a good photographer should be able to relax you and get the best from your images. I use a very informal manner and work hard to relax my clients. If you are worried, I would always recommend a pre-shoot to run through your wedding photography and have some fun practising the day in front of the camera. This will also give you a fantastic signing board for your guest to leave comments around at your wedding which adds something very special to your day.

What will you cover?

I am able to cover from when you are preparing for your special day up until your first dance at your evening reception.  When we meet for the first time we’ll chat about your requirements and what you would like me to cover.

Normally this will be from 2 hours before your ceremony until the first dance, but we will discuss this and arrange the day to suit you both.

Do we need to feed the photographer on our wedding day?

Yes please, otherwise I might faint half way through the day! But please to save your costs, don’t book me a place with the guests as I usually have my food at the bar away from main reception and take the opportunity to have a first look through your images during this quiet time. A bar snack and couple of soft drinks is plenty!

Can you provide guest shots from the day?

Once your first dance is complete, I do display group and family shots for your guests to purchase and take away the same evening. This is very popular with relatives that come from far and wide and don’t often get together. Aunty Betty loves this service! It is free to you and something your guests will enjoy.

How many photos will we get of our wedding?

During the course of your day I will take hundreds of photographs then following your wedding I spend approximately 30-40 hours editing the images. You will receive approx. 500 - 1000 photographs depending on the size of the wedding and various factors, for example how long I am with you. What you see on your online gallery, you will receive on DVD, with permission to print for personal use.

Where can we see our photos after the wedding?

Approx. two weeks after your wedding your finished photos will be placed on a secure area of my website for you, your family and friends to see.  From here you will choose the images that you would like to have in your album.  Your family and friends are able to purchase either printed or digital images that they would like as special mementoes’ of your day.

After the Wedding Questions

Do you produce thank you cards?

Yes I do, this is part of several wedding packages or thank you cards can be purchased separately after your wedding.  Simply choose your favourite photo that you would like on your thank you cards and leave the rest to me to arrange.

A full range of photographic products are available.

Can we upgrade our album package after the wedding?

Yes you can.  Couples often choose to upgrade their albums after the wedding and this is no problem, just contact me to discuss this when you are ready. A wedding album should last a lifetime, so make sure you are happy with your choice.

Do you produce Parents albums?

I do a standard parents album that includes 20 of their favourite shots and a complete DVD of all the images with permission to print, so they can enjoy your wedding again and again.
